FORMER CORK CITY and Sunderland striker Roy O’Donovan let the red rebel mist get the better of him this morning during his side’s 3- 1 win over Wellington Phoenix in the A-League.
The Central Coast Mariners’ Irish forward clearly leaned in and flicked a headbutt while anticipating the approach of Phoenix captain Manny Muscat with his side leading 2-0 after 59 minutes in Gosford.
Incredibly, O’Donovan walked away with just a yellow card for the incident and Kiwi Andrew Durante took the same punishment for his protests.
There was one mitigating factor in O’Donovan’s defence: as Outside 90 point out on Twitter, Muscat had just clipped him with an elbow in the face before the pair came together.
