CELTIC SHOULD APPOINT Roy Keane as the club’s new manager when Ronny Deila departs at the end of the season, according to Charlie Nicholas.
Former Celtic and Arsenal player Nicholas believes that Keane would be his “ideal choice” to succeed Deila and suggested that the Irish coach would “clear the decks” at Celtic Park.
“I would like Roy Keane to get it because I think he would sort a lot of people out,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“He would clear the decks. I am not saying he would be the greatest tactician, but I think he would bring a different drive and a different energy to the club.

“He would be the type I’d be looking at to take on people, give him the responsibility and let him get on with it.
“He would be my ideal choice, I think there are others out there, but I am not convinced the owner or chief executive will step aside and say this is the way it has got to be because there’s an issue with the club’s budget.”
Keane, who is currently assistant manager to Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill, is among a number of names linked with the Celtic job and speculation has intensified following the announcement that Deila will step down at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, former Bhoys boss Neil Lennon has expressed interest in returning to the club, claiming that he would like to speak to the club board if the chance appeared.
“That’s the 54 million dollar question,” Lennon told Sky Sports.
“I’ve never hidden my affinity for the club so would I like to go back if the opportunity arose and I had the opportunity to speak to the board? Then absolutely.”
The 44-year-old stepped down as Celtic boss in May 2014 after four years at the helm and is now out of work following his departure from Championship side Bolton Wanderers in March 2016.
