ALEX FERGUSON HAD many successes in the transfer market during his 27-year spell at Old Trafford, showing a particularly ruthless streak that usually saw him discard key men at just the right time.
However, Ferguson made mistakes too. Eric Djemba Djemba and Kleberson are two midfielders who didn’t work out but his decision to allow Paul Pogba to join Juventus could have been his most costly.
Louis van Gaal would love to have the authoratitve Frenchman in the centre of his midfield and former United legend Roy Keane thinks Pogba should be at the top of Man United’s wishlist.
“I think that United should sign Paul Pogba for they need a presence and physical player in midfield,” Roy Keane said at a fundraiser for Waterford United in comments reported by the Liverpool Echo.
“Pogba knows the league, is big and strong and is playing brilliantly for Juventus. People say United can’t get Pogba but they should try.”
Pogba has a been rumoured target of both United and Spanish giants Real Madrid and it will be interesting to monitor his playing situation as the summer transfer window nears.
On a somewhat bleak side-note, Eric Djemba-Djemba now plays for Persebaya Surabaya in Indonesia while Kleberson lines out for Indy Eleven in the North American Soccer League.
Keane, even at his age now, would get into this utd team.

I’m delighted he signed, being a united fan, but I don’t think many could see this happening 17 months ago, when the comment was made. Good spot though!!!
Only hope United have of getting him is if he is determined to eventually play for them and wants to return but will probably end up at Real Madrid. Whatever happens he will go for big money!
As bad as the EPL is, Seria A is very poor. Would be interesting to see how Pogba would get on in EPL…Ballotelli was scoring for fun in Italy and can hardly get a shot on target in the EPL.
Em , Balotelli actually hits the target a lot. Statistically, he’s up there with the best in the league. A lot of his shots simply didn’t get past the keeper.
Pogba is a smashing player, I think fergie bit his nose to spite his face he didn’t want some young lad dictating contract talks cos it sets a precedent, he took the risk to let pogba go and it’s backfired, I’d love to have him back at Man U.

If united get in the champions league then why wouldn’t he? He recently said in the interview he still loves United and enjoyed his time there it was just his lack of game time which forced him to leave.

Every great team has a midfield general, viera and keane ten years ago epitomised that. Look at Utd and arsenal now….. Enough said.
The midfield genera role is dying. The only player I can think of in the PL at the moment is Matic. Anyone else?
Utd need to forget about pogba, it was a mistake but now it’s over. Same way they need to forget about Ronaldo. There’s quality all across Europe and utd will have a lot of money to spend in the summer, Di Maria and De Gea might not be utd players next season, Falcao definitely won’t, van persie is finished so a striker is a must. I’d try and get Higuain or Mandzukic for an extra option up front, De Bruyne or Bale (if real are serious about De gea) for the wing. A good solid centre mid like Strootman or Schneiderlin and of course a centre half, probably not Hummels but Godin or Varane. If De gea does go then try and bring in Bernd Leno or Kevin Trapp.

Kleberson was in the Brasil team that won the work cup in 2002. Not sure how it’s a bleak note that he is playing out the end of his career considering his success in the game.
