FORMER ENGLAND MANAGER Roy Hodgson has emerged as a leading candidate to succeed Claudio Ranieri at Leicester City.
The dismissal of the Italian last week caught many football fans by surprise as it came just nine months after he guided the club to a stunning Premier League title.
There was initially a feeling that Leicester already had a replacement lined up due to the timing of the decision, it being announced fewer than 24 hours since their respectable 2-1 away defeat to Sevilla in the Champions League.

However, that no longer seems to be the case as speculation continues to ebb and flow over the identity of Ranieri’s successor.
Hodgson was sacked as England manager after a disastrous European Championships in France last year which saw his side eliminated at the round of 16 stage by Iceland.
The former Liverpool, Fulham and Inter Milan manager is now seen as a front-runner by bookmakers to take the reins at Leicester after the 69-year-old reportedly held talks with the Foxes.
Caretaker manager Craig Shakespeare, who guided Leicester to an impressive 3-1 win against Liverpool last night, is considered to be Hodgson’s main rival for the post with both men being priced in and around 7/4 to get the job, depending on the bookmaker.
Former Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink, Ranieri’s predecessor Nigel Pearson, ex-Manchester United chief Louis van Gaal and former Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew are the outsiders in the race, according to the bookmakers.
