Somehow this deliberate stamp in New Zealand only warranted a yellow card

Ross Geldenhuys can count himself seriously lucky.

TASMAN MADE IT two wins from two in this year’s ITM Cup in New Zealand, picking up a bonus point in a 34-13 win against Bay of Plenty earlier today.

While they looked strong in the second half to pull away from their opponents, the real talking point came early in the game with the score just 7-3 to Tasman.

Their tighthead prop Ross Geldenhuys somehow avoided a red card after this awful stamp on opposing scrum-half Jono Kitto.

Geldenhuys and Kitto were wrestling for the ball after the referee’s whistle blew before the prop flung the scrum-half to the ground, and then stamped down onto the side of his knee.

After checking the incident on the big screen, the referee in charge only saw fit to give the prop a yellow card, and as the commentary team point out, Geldenhuys couldn’t get off the pitch fast enough after escaping a red card.
