Patterson could make his debut this weekend.

After leaving Derry City, Rory Patterson will be playing in Australia this year

The striker will be lining out for Cockburn City. Nope, us neither.

NORTHERN IRELAND INTERNATIONAL Rory Patterson has signed for Perth-based club Cockburn City.

The striker’s three-year spell at Derry City came to an end last month after Patterson and the club came to a mutual agreement to terminate his contract at the Brandywell.

Several Airtricity League clubs were thought to be interested in the 30-year-old but instead he’s moved Down Under where he will play in the Western Australia National Premier League.

Patterson scored 54 goals in 84 appearances for the Candystripes and was the league’s top scorer in 2013 with 18 goals.

However, he fell out of favour at the start of last season with manager Roddy Collins and last month stated his desire to leave the club before pre-season training started to sort out his future.

Cockburn are currently managed by former Celtic midfielder Marc Anthony.
