Video: Rory McIlroy's ankle injury looks to be well on the mend

The world number could still defend his PGA Championship title.

WITH UNCONFIRMED REPORTS yesterday that Rory McIlroy has booked a practice round at Whistling Straits, the venue for next week’s PGA Championship, the world’s number one has added to speculation he may be able to defend the year’s final Major.

McIlroy famously injured his left ankle playing football with friends in early July which left him unable to compete in the Open at St. Andrews and, at the time, many expected his season may be over.

However, in a post on Instagram, the 26-year old said he was “working hard every day to come back stronger #dontmindthegrind.”

The accompanying video features McIlroy testing his injured ankle while working out with a medicine ball in the gym.
