Ronnie O'Sullivan plays Crucible opener in his socks, borrows shoes from tournament director

Just another Tuesday for Ronnie…

YOU NEVER KNOW what you’re going to get with Ronnie O’Sullivan.

O’Sullivan caused a bit of a stir at the World Snooker Championships this afternoon when he removed his shoes and played some of his first-round match in his socks.

O’Sullivan explained that his shoes were hurting him and, as his opponent Craig Steadman looked on, offered to swap them with anyone in the Crucible crowd who was wearing size 8s.

O’Sullivan was informed that he couldn’t continue playing in his socks as it was in breach of snooker etiquette and eventually, he borrowed shoes from tournament director Mike Ganley and the match continued.

It didn’t affect his performance. The five-time world champion leads Steadman 7-2 after this afternoon’s session.
