Cork selector returns to Cuthbert's backroom six months after stepping down

Ronan McCarthy is back with the Cork footballers.

RONAN MCCARTHY HAS resumed his position as a Cork senior football selector six months after stepping down from the role.

The former defender told manager Brian Cuthbert last August that he could not continue due to work and other commitments, but his re-appointment was unanimously approved at a county board meeting on Tuesday night.

Cuthbert explained: “It was always the intention that Ronan would return to the management team later in the season but circumstances facilitate an immediate return.

“Ronan will be a big asset to the group going forward.”

McCarthy was a selector under Cuthbert from 2012 until the summer of 2014, and joins Don Davis, Ciaran O’Sullivan and Owen Sexton in the Rebels backroom.
