Ireland U19s striker scores cracking individual goal in win over Portugal

Birmingham City teenager Ronan Hale hit the winner in La Manga.

RONAN HALE GRABBED the headlines as Ireland’s U19s earned an impressive 1-0 win over Portugal in La Manga.

Tom Mohan’s side are competing in the U19 National Team Tournament and bounced back from Friday’s 2-1 loss to Norway with an excellent performance.

Dan McKenna was sent off after picking up a second yellow card on 58 minutes, before Belfast-born striker Hale bagged the decisive goal with a strong run followed by a superb finish.

The Birmingham City striker scored twice on his international debut last May and he was also on target as the Boys in Green secured their place in the elite phase of the UEFA U19 Championships by beating Gibraltar 5-0 back in October.

Ireland face Slovakia in their final game on Tuesday.
