STEVEN GERRARD HAS praised Robbie Keane’s goalscoring ability and says that the LA Galaxy players are “desperate” for their captain to be crowned MLS MVP for the second successive season.
Keane, who was recently included in Martin O’Neill’s Republic of Ireland squad for games against Gibraltar and Georgia, was named MLS’ Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2014 after scoring 21 goals in 34 appearances and has been in scintillating form for Bruce Arena’s side this season.

The Ireland international scored two and set up two in a 5-1 victory as the Galaxy easily saw off the challenge of a New York City team containing Andrea Pirlo and David Villa on Sunday.
The double brought Keane’s MLS tally for the season to 15 goals in 17 games and Gerrard was full of praise for the Dublin native after the game.
“It’s the same most weeks, when the guy is in form, sharp, and injury free he is always going to get goals,” the former Liverpool captain told the official LA Galaxy website.
“His movement is clever. The one disappointment I’ve got personally is that third goal on the hat trick.
“Everyone in this dressing room is desperate for Robbie to go on and achieve the MVP again.
“We all have responsibilities to keep serving him and keep providing goals scored and chances for him, and we are certainly doing that.”
