ROBBIE KEANE IS on the move at the end of this year, but his wife has dismissed talk of a return home.
Ireland’s all-time record goalscorer and caps holder, who retired from international football in August, will depart LA Galaxy when this season draws to a close after five hugely-successful years at the MLS club.
The striker will go down as one of the greatest players ever to grace the league after scoring 92 goals, providing 51 assists and winning three MLS Cups as well as the coveted MVP award.
At 36, Keane has vowed to continue playing but it is not yet known which club will be joining the long list of sides he has lined out for since making his professional debut for Wolves back in 1997.
The Irish Daily Star reported yesterday that Shamrock Rovers had held “exploratory talks” with the Tallaght native, and his hometown club would appear to make some sense.
Good friend Damien Duff is on the coaching staff and former Leeds United team-mate Stephen McPhail was recently appointed the Hoops’ director of football.
However, Robbie’s wife Claudine has taken to Twitter to pour cold water on speculation that they will be returning to Ireland in the near future.
So many people asking if we’re moving back to Ireland,” she tweeted. “We will be home for Christmas but not for long, maybe in a few more years from now.”
And when asked if there was any truth to the Rovers speculation, Claudine replied:
“No, first we heard of it. It’s just a rumour, no truth to it.”

Slade as number 24 is odd, was he a sub?
He was no.10 but his jersey was ripped so they swapped it with that one.
