Robbie Keane has been impressed with Steven Gerrard's start to life at LA Galaxy

The Republic of Ireland forward has praised the former Liverpool captain after his performance against FC Dallas.

ROBBIE KEANE HAS heaped praise upon Steven Gerrard after the former Liverpool captain scored the decisive goal in LA Galaxy’s 3-2 victory over FC Dallas.

Giovani dos Santos opened the scoring for Galaxy after 11 minutes and Keane added a second minutes later. Dallas pulled a goal back through Michael Barrios before half-time but Gerrard scored shortly before the hour mark in what proved a crucial strike with Atiba Harris getting a late goal for the visitors.

“It was an energetic performance,” Keane told the club’s official website of Gerrard’s performance.

“He just makes simple passes that people wouldn’t appreciate unless you’re playing with him. To give the simple ball to a striker and take out two or three players, it’s the best ball for a striker and the team.

“It eliminates a lot of their players. He did that a lot tonight. His energy at getting players around him is composed and getting compact toward the end. It was great tonight.”

Keane had endured two games without a goal for LA Galaxy, but his strike against Dallas brings his tally to 16 in Major League Soccer games this season.
