THE LA GALAXY’s dominance in the MLS doesn’t look like ending any time soon as the California club have handed Robbie Keane a new contract.
Ireland’s record goalscorer was counting down the months on his existing deal, but the new one ensures he will remain at the Galaxy for at least one more season.
Galaxy did not divulge the exact length of the new contract, but with 55 goals in his 91 appearances — including (it says in the press release stats) 15 game-winning goals and 16 game-winning assists – over since joining in 2011, they were clearly loathe to lose Keane just when Steven Gerrard arrived.
“He has been one of the key pieces in our success over the past five seasons,” says coach Bruce Arena.
