Robbie Keane ghosts into the box to score after some pretty non-existent defending

LA Galaxy caught Portland Timbers on the hop with two early goals tonight.

Updated at 23.00

LA GALAXY WERE away to Portland Timbers tonight and two goals early in the first half were ultimately enough to earn them victory.

Seven minutes into the game, Giovani dos Santos got his head up and picked out the back post run of captain Robbie Keane, who had the simplest of tasks to tap in from close range with the Timbers defence caught napping.

It’s the Ireland striker’s 80th goal in 118 matches for the MLS club. Gyasi Zardes then added a second four minutes later but Portland pulled one back through Zarek Valentin just before half-time.

However, the Galaxy held on after the break, with no further goals in the second half, with the visitors consequently securing their fourth straight win.
