Robbie Keane scored a goal of the season contender in the US last night

A double for Robbie – but LA Galaxy lose 5-2 at home to the Portland Timbers.

IRELAND LEARNED THEIR Euro 2016 play-off fate yesterday — and if they’re to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina, they could do with a few moments of magic like this from Robbie Keane.

The Ireland skipper was back in action last night as the LA Galaxy suffered a shock 5-2 defeat at home against the Portland Timbers.

The highlight of the night came in the 36th minute when Juninho angled a pass over the Timbers defence and Keane let it bounce once before looping a volley past goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey.

Keane did grab a second late on — his 19th of the season — but it wasn’t enough.

The Galaxy are now likely to need a win in their final game against Sporting Kansas City to guarantee their place in the postseason.
