LA GALAXY SUFFERED a disappointing 2-1 loss to Sporting KC, but Robbie Keane caught the eye with a goal and an excellent display in the MLS last night.

The Galaxy are the reigning MLS Cup champions, but this latest result means they must now beat the Sounders in Seattle to keep their hopes of a sixth Cup crown alive.

And while the general team performance left much to be desired, Ireland’s veteran striker was singled out for praise.

Of Keane’s performance, the official LA Galaxy website wrote:

“Looking for some good news? Well, Robbie Keane is in the form of his life as the Galaxy turn their attention to repeating as MLS Cup champions.

“The Galaxy’s Irish captain scored in his fourth consecutive match in the dying moments of first half stoppage time. The goal is Keane’s 20th of 2015—and his 17th in 14 games—which sets a new single-season LA Galaxy career high for the Irishman.

“Heading into the postseason, there’s no doubt that the Galaxy will go as far as Keane will take them. But as good as the Irishman is, the Galaxy will need other players to step up for Los Angeles to defend their MLS Cup title.”
