Robbie Brady released from Ireland squad - but there's good news on Shane Long

Long expected to train on Saturday as Ireland set off for Moldova.

ROBBIE BRADY HAS been given the all-clear by FAI medical staff but will play no part in Ireland’s World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Sunday.

Brady was stretched off during the second half of the win against Georgia following a nasty clash of heads.

The FAI confirmed on Friday that he had suffered a concussion and spent the night in hospital where he underwent a precautionary scan.

After he was cleared by FAI medical staff, he was released from Martin O’Neill’s squad to continue his recovery.

There was much better news surrounding the fitness of Shane Long who limped off in the final moments of Thursday night’s game in Dublin.

“There is no reaction to the knock,” the FAI said, “and (Long) is expected to train on Saturday.”

Jeff Hendrick, who is suspended for the game in Chisinau, has travelled with the squad.
