ROBBIE BRADY PICKED up a litany of individual accolades at this evening’s ‘Three’ FAI International Football Awards, capping a memorable twelve months for the 25-year-old.
The Burnley midfielder was crowned Senior International Player of the Year ahead of club-mate Jeff Hendrick and Irish skipper Seamus Coleman.
He also claimed the Young International Player of the Year award, preferred to Hendrick once more and Brighton defender Shane Duffy.
Brady sealed his hat-trick by taking home the Goal of the Year gong for his superb last-gasp winner against Italy at last summer’s European Championship, which ensured the Republic of Ireland’s progression to the knockout stage of the tournament.
A graduate of the fabled St. Kevin’s Boys academy, Brady has had a remarkable year – his performances in France leading to inevitable rumours linking him with a big-money switch from Norwich, who he only joined in 2015. He finally left Carrow Road in January, signing a club record deal to return to the Premier League with Sean Dyche’s Clarets.
Meanwhile, there were plenty of other accolades handed out tonight.
UCD Waves’ Karen Duggan was voted Senior Women’s Player of the Year and presented with her award by the team’s new boss Colin Bell.
After his superb performances with title-winning Dundalk, Daryl Horgan was voted 2016 League of Ireland Player of the Year ahead of Preston team-mate Andy Boyle and Cork City’s Sean Maguire.
Bristol City winger Callum O’Dowda picked up the Under 21 award while Robbie Keane was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
