Difficult start for Leona Maguire in Rio as she cards opening round 74

Despite a birdie on the opening hole, Ireland’s Leona Maguire has finished her first round in the Women’s Olympic golf competition on three-over-par. The Cavan amateur carded a 74 this morning to currently lie in a tie for 47th.

Stephanie Meadow, meanwhile, is four-over-par through 12 holes at the Olympic Golf Course.
