POOR WEATHER CONDITIONS have forced the day’s rowing schedule at the Summer Olympics to be postponed for a second time.
Initially, a decision had been taken to suspend the morning session only but with the Lagoa Stadium having to deal with rain, mist and light winds, it was agreed to write off the afternoon’s events too.
Claire Lambe and Sinead Jennings were set to take to the water at around 1pm for their semi-final in the lightweight women’s double sculls, having done well in their heat on Monday.
Following that, brothers Paul and Gary O’Donovan were scheduled to go in the lightweight men’s double sculls but now, everything has changed once again.
Lambe and Jennings will now go at 1pm tomorrow while the O’Donovans will follow at 1.10pm.
The finals of both events will take place later that afternoon.
It’s the second time the rowers have seen an entire day of action wiped out by the weather.
On Sunday, after a two-hour delay, strong winds and choppy waters ensured the events were cancelled and slotted in for the following afternoon instead.

Again, it’s had an effect on Irish athletes.
