Richard Dunne is enjoying life in France and has no intention of returning to football

The former Ireland international is currently living in France.

HE HASN’T OFFICIALLY retired from professional football but Richard Dunne is enjoying life in France so much, he has no intention to return to the game.

The former Ireland international has been without a club since leaving Queens Park Rangers during the summer and he failed to find an employer before the season started.

The 36-year-old, who retired from international football in July 2014 after winning 80 caps, has since moved to France and says he doesn’t plan to return.

In an interview with Gavin Earley in tonight’s match programme, Dunne said:

“It’s just life, I don’t play for a team at the moment and don’t have any plans in the future to do it – it’s just the way it is.

“I still play five-a-side and seven-a-side over here, that’s what I do. Myself and the family are enjoying life and taking it easy.

“The kids are in school here so we just need Ireland to qualify and we’ll be already here for the Euros, which would be handy.”
