The LA Rams have blown the 2016 Draft wide open by trading up to the number one pick

The gutsy move, however, did not come cheap.

THE LA RAMS are on the clock.

In a move that blows the 2016 NFL Draft wide open, the LA Rams — formerly of the St. Louis parish — have made a blockbuster trade with the Tennessee Titans to move up to the number one overall pick.

Jeff Fisher’s team, previously in the number 15 spot, are the lowest-picking outfit in NFL history to trade up to first overall. But it has cost them.

As part of the trade, the Titans get the Rams’ first-round pick (15 overall), two second-round picks (43 and 45) and a third-round pick (76) this year, as well as a first and third-round pick in 2017.

The Rams obviously get the first overall pick but also the Titans’ fourth-round (113) and sixth-round (177) picks.

Moving to a new city this season the Rams needed to make a splash.

However, it remains to be seen whether Carson Wentz or Jared Goff — widely regarded as the top two prospects in the Draft — can become the franchise quarterback for a team that has not posted a winning record since 2003.

While we don’t know which quarterback the Rams prefer, they obviously believe it was the same one Cleveland is enamoured with and — as the Browns are picking at two — they had no choice but to pull the trigger.

The last time the number one pick was traded the Giants picked up Eli Manning. The Rams will be hoping this deal works out just as well.
