The MLS Goal of the Season has probably been decided already after this glorious strike

There was an unusual inspiration for it too – Steph Curry.

SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES have a bit of history when it comes to scoring magnificent goals.

George Best always said his favourite came during his stint with the then-NASL franchise in the early-1980s.

And on Sunday night, they managed another.

They were already leading 1-0 against the Portland Timbers when Quincy Amarikwa burst through a couple of tackles close to the half-way line before attacking the right channel at pace.

He took a quick look at where Adam Kwarasey was before launching a magnificent chip that sailed over the keeper’s head and drifted perfectly into the far corner.

The new season may only be a couple of weeks old but there’s already been a litany of superb goals scored.

Still, Amarikwa’s is definitely the one to beat.

And the inspiration for it? The NBA’s best player, obviously.

“I’ve been watching (Steph) Curry shoot from everywhere. If he can do it, I can get lucky one time”, Amarikwa said after the game.
