HE MAY NOT be Michael Cheika’s favourite out-half, but if this morning’s comeback after two months out with a shoulder injury is anything to go by, Quade Cooper is hitting serious form.
The brilliant playmaker was back in tandem with Will Genia and scored two tries while helping the Queensland Reds to a comfortable 10 – 32 victory over the Western Force.
Cooper grounded the first score of the game himself, dotting down one-handed with space at a premium in the left corner.

Five minutes before half-time, Cooper conjured a brilliant assist, offloading behind his back to send Lachie Turner steaming in to the corner for the first of his two tries.

Cooper also showed his prowess off the tee, bisecting the posts with both conversion attempts from the left touchline. And he took his tally to 22 points when Genia broke in to the Force 22 after 63 minutes and spun a brilliant pass to his long-term half-back partner.
It’s an important statement of intent from Cooper as the Wallabies face in to the World Cup’s ‘pool of death’ alongside England and Wales.
