CHARLES PIUTAU HAS already been making quite an impact at Ulster and the statistics certainly back that up.
The New Zealander features prominently in two key areas after three rounds of the Guinness Pro12 following his big-money move to Ulster.
Piutau has racked up eight offloads in Ulster’s games against Newport Gwent Dragons and the Scarlets, while he missed their second game of the campaign, against Benetton Treviso, with a thumb injury.

The fullback is second only to Samoa’s Reynold Lee-Lo for offloads with eight, the Cardiff centre having completed 10 in his three games.
Piutau also features in the top five of the stats for defenders beaten, having skipped past 10 opponents, which leaves him fourth in the standings, behind Glasgow’s Tommy Seymour (15), Ben John (14) of the Ospreys and Tom James (12) from Cardiff.
Piutau’s team-mates Craig Gilroy and Stuart Olding have also amassed impressive early-season numbers with both featuring in the top five for carries.
Gilroy has taken the ball on 41 times which is bettered only by Olly Cracknell (50) of the Ospreys and good enough for joint second overall, while Olding is ranked fourth for carries on 40. Olding is also in the top five for offloads, having tallied five to date.
Munster back-rowers Billy Holland and Jack O’Donoghue lead the way for tackles made so far with 53 and 44 respectively.
Leinster flanker Dan Leavy has been effective at the breakdown this season and that is shown by the five turnovers he was won, a statistic bettered only by Wyn Jones (6) of the Scarlets.
