SHAUN MALONEY CAME off the bench to play a starring role as Hull City maintained their winning start to the Premier League season with a 2-0 victory at Swansea City.
Introduced as a 73rd-minute replacement for Adama Diomande, the Scotland international broke the deadlock before setting up Abel Hernandez for a second goal that wrapped up the three points.
The result will enhance caretaker manager Mike Phelan’s chances of taking the job on a permanent basis after he masterminded a win against champions Leicester City last weekend.
Swansea also claimed three points on the opening weekend, winning 1-0 at Burnley, but were left empty-handed against a determined Hull side.
Meanwhile, Victor Wanyama sparked Tottenham’s season into life as the Kenya midfielder’s late goal secured a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Wanyama’s 83rd minute header at White Hart Lane finally broke the resistance of a Palace side who are without a goal and without a point after the opening two games of the campaign.

After last weekend’s frustrating draw at Everton, the Kenya international’s goal brought relief for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who finished third last season after challenging champions Leicester until the final weeks.
The late rally, inspired by the introduction of Dele Alli who had been surprisingly omitted from the starting line-up, kick-started Tottenham’s anticipated title challenge while underlining the problems confronting the problems confronting Alan Pardew, the Palace manager, whose side have won just two league games in 2016.
And, finally, Ronald Koeman secured his first victory as Everton manager as his side came from a goal behind to claim a 2-1 Premier League victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns.
Everton had to come from two goals down to win 3-2 in the corresponding fixture last season, and they were made to fight for the points once again on Saturday.
The visitors found themselves behind early on thanks to a Gareth McAuley header, with Kevin Mirallas restoring parity just prior to the interval.

And the comeback was complete when, on the hour mark, Gareth Barry headed in after Tony Pulis’ side failed to clear from a corner – with Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku both squandering gilt-edged chances late on.
Fortunately for the visitors, the misses mattered little as, despite withstanding a late glut of West Brom pressure, Everton held firm to secure the spoils.
