TOP SPORTS DATA company Opta have released stats revealing which Premier League players have recorded the highest speeds so far this season.
And the list makes for surprising reading.
While renowned speedsters Jamie Vardy and Kyle Walker feature in the top five, they are outdone by Sunderland’s American youngster Lynden Gooch and Ireland striker Shane Long, who takes top spot with a blistering 35.31km/h.
Long’s international team-mate, West Brom winger James McClean, is also included in fifth-place.

10. Wilfried Zaha, Crystal Palace – 34.79km/h
9. Etienne Capoue, Watford – 34.83km/h
8. Eric Bailly, Manchester United – 34.84km/h
7. Adama Traore, Middlesbrough – 34.84km/h
6. Andre Gray, Burnley – 34.87km/h
5. James McClean, West Brom – 35.04km/h
4. James Vardy, Leicester City – 35.1km/h
3. Kyle Walker, Tottenham – 35.18km/h
2. Lynden Gooch, Sunderland – 35.19km/h

I’ll tell you what I remember, the worst football I’ve seen in over a decade. Players not wanting to play for their country because of a little jumped up tw@t of an assistant manager, over priced tickets and then top it all off give McCarthy the job for 2 years and no matter how well he does he is then replaced. Ah what a year
