The nominations for the awards have been announced today. Chelsea players, as expected, feature heavily.

THE NOMINATIONS FOR the Premier League Player and Manager of the Season awards have been announced and they are a tad predictable.

With an eight-man shortlist being announced for the Player of the Year award, there was never going to be any player controversially left out of the running but the manager category has thrown up one perhaps surprise nominee.

Arsene Wenger has been shortlisted but many fans will feel Mark Hughes deserves consideration following his achievement of guiding Stoke City to ninth in the league — equaling their highest ever finish which he also guided them to last year.

Alan Pardew is also worth a mention for his excellent work at Crystal Palace this season.
