ANDREA PIRLO AND David Villa could probably still be playing at a higher level but when they’re bringing us magic like this on a Monday morning, who are we to complain?
The New York City pair combined in the 66th minute of last night’s MLS game at home to Orlando City to put Patrick Vieira’s side 2-0 up.

With NYC leading thanks to Frederic Brillant’s first-half opener, Pirlo nonchalantly picked out Villa with an inch-perfect pass from the centre circle. The Spanish striker then killed the ball with his chest before lobbing Orlando goalkeeper Joe Bendik.

It wasn’t all so pretty for David Villa last night, however. Four minutes later he had a chance to score again from the penalty spot.
Well, the less said about this, the better…
That proved to be a costly miss for New York City too as they ended up sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Kevin Molino equalised in the fourth minute of added time after former Arsenal and Real Madrid striker Julio Baptista — remember him? — had pulled one back for the visitors.
