More misery for Arsenal as Petr Cech ruled out for up to four weeks

The Gunners will have David Ospina between the sticks for the rest of the month.

ARSENAL GOALKEEPER PETR Cech will likely be sidelined until April with a groin strain.

Cech injured himself running back to his own half after a late corner in Wednesday’s 1 – 2 home defeat to Swansea.

“Cech will be out for three or four weeks,” Arsene Wenger said at his press conference today.

“He had a groin alert, he could not kick the ball properly because of his groin”

The third-place Premier League side will be without their ‘keeper for this weekend’s north London derby and the FA Cup fifth round clash with Hull.

The three-week timeframe would also rule him out of Premier League meetings with West Brom and Everton either side of the return leg of the Champions League tie with Barcelona.

A four-week absence would bring Cech back into the side for the home meeting with Watford on 2 April.

“Yes, of course,” said Wenger when asked if Cech’s absence would be a major loss to the side.

“But then you look at the win rate of [David] Ospina and it’s very good. Honestly I’m not worried at all.”
