Petr Cech's Arsenal career has got off to a disastrous start

Reece Oxford will certainly be relieved that someone has taken the attention away from him.

THERE WAS MUCH positive talk about Arsenal’s signing of Petr Cech prior to the start of the season, but the experienced goalkeeper didn’t exactly cover himself in glory in the opening game today.

The Czech international ill-advisedly rushed out of goal in an attempt to claim a lofted free-kick into the box, but unfortunately from an Arsenal perspective, Cheik Kouyate got there before him and headed the ball into the empty net to give West Ham a surprise 1-0 lead.

Cech could also have done much better for West Ham’s second goal, as the Arsenal goalkeeper left far too much space at his near post for Mauro Zárate’s powerful strike.

16-year-old Reece Oxford will certainly be relieved that someone has taken the attention away from him.
