Rochford appoints former Mayo goalkeeper as selector for 2017

Peter Burke has been with the panel for six years.

MAYO FOOTBALL MANAGER Stephen Rochford has appointed former inter-county goalkeeper Peter Burke as a selector for 2017.

Burke, a goalkeeping coach who has been working with the panel for the past six seasons, will replace Sean Carey in the setup after he called time on his involvement, according to the Mayo News.

The Kiltimagh club man is expected to combine his role as goalkeeping coach with his new position, where he will continue to work alongside Donie Buckley and Tony McEntee.

Burke made his senior inter-county debut at the age of 21, against Galway in 1997.

He won the National League in 2001 and played in the All-Ireland final defeats to Kerry in 1997 and 2004 before retiring from the inter-county game 12 years ago.
