LOUTH GAA HAVE this evening announced the shrewd appointment of Pete McGrath as the county’s new football manager on a two-year term.
McGrath stepped down as Fermanagh manager in July after three years in charge, revealing that player unrest forced him to make a shock resignation a week after committing to another year at the helm.

The 64-year-old, who masterminded Down’s two All-Ireland titles in 1991 and 1994, will now lead Louth into the 2018 season after being ratified as manager at tonight’s county board meeting, taking over from Colin Kelly who left the post in June.
Kelly had led the Wee County to successive promotions in the league but he stepped down following this summer’s championship qualifier defeat to Longford.
McGrath’s arrival is a real coup for Louth as they prepare for their Allianz League Division 2 campaign.
