Guardiola is already looking forward to his first game against 'The Big Sam'

“I want to prove myself here,” says Pep in his first press conference as City boss.

PEP GUARDIOLA HAS already passed his first Premier League assimilation test with flying colours.

Guardiola met the media today for his first press conference as Manchester City boss.

After racking up trophies at Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the Spaniard is relishing a new test in English football.

And he immediately set his sights on the season opener when his celebrated tika-taka style is bound to receive a rude welcome from Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland.

Oh yes, Pep is very familiar with the man he is already calling “The Big Sam.”

“I am pretty sure it will be completely different in England to in Germany. That is why I am here,” Guardiola explained.

“I never played on Boxing Day. I have never been to a stadium where it is windy and freezing and the pitch is not good. It’s a target for me. I want to prove myself here.

“Against Sunderland, against the Big Sam in the first one, I am sure it will be completely different.”
