ANOTHER BOUT OF Irish interest has been added to the bill for UFC Fight Night 77 at Dublin’s 3Arena.
The event, which is to be headlined by a lightweight bout between Joseph Duffy and Dustin Poirier, is set to take place on Saturday, 24 October.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s third event in the Irish capital will now also feature Straight Blast Gym welterweight Cathal Pendred.
As he aims to rebound from his first loss in the octagon, the 27-year-old Dubliner will take on Tom Breese in his sixth outing as a UFC fighter, according to The Sun.
Breese, a 23-year-old Englishman, will be fighting for just the second time in the UFC, having defeated Luiz Jorge Dutra via first-round TKO in his debut back in May.
The Birmingham native has a professional record of 8-0 and is currently a team-mate of Joseph Duffy’s at the Tristar Gym in Montreal, Canada.
Last month at UFC 189, Pendred saw a 12-fight undefeated run snapped when he suffered a split-decision loss to John Howard in Las Vegas.
The Sun also reports that UFC Dublin will feature a middleweight bout between Englishman Scott Askham and Poland’s Krzysztof Jotko.
Has Pep enjoyed unparalleled success with Bayern? I know it’s hard to follow someone who won the treble, but Bayern have never looked as dangerous playing the ‘Pep’ way as they did when they tore Barca apart playing direct, fast, powerful football.
He’s been great domestically but Dortmund did sort of fall apart around the same time.
Good to see a manager posting some common sense re cultural tactics. Shame LVG is too arrogant to admit his approach doesnt work in england. Leicester have probably the lowest possession stats in the league.
Hiddinks style is working well anyway…
It’s always surprised me why Guardiola has gotten the credit for a system started by Cruyff. I remember when Guardiola decided to leave Barcelona as a player. He had trouble finding a club willing to pay what he thought he was worth. He’s always had an inflated ego.
