It comes in the wake of a controversial loss to Pendred, with many questioning the decision of the judges to award the win to the Dubliner after their welterweight bout went the distance.
During the live broadcast of Sunday’s event, UFC President Dana White and commentator Joe Rogan expressed their shock at the decision, and Spencer has also claimed that the judges were biased in favour of Boston-born Pendred.
Spencer has now been paid his full purse, which is $28,000 according to disclosed payrolls, while Pendred picked up a disclosed $16,000 — including his own win bonus.
Two of the judges awarded Pendred all three rounds of Sunday’s fight for scores of 30-27. The third issued a 29-28 score, giving Pendred rounds two and and three, with the opening frame going to Spencer. The judges were hired by the Massachusetts State Athletic Commission, which oversaw the entire event.
Spencer has been critical of the decision on Twitter and has called for a rematch at UFC 185 in his hometown of Dallas, and Pendred seems keen.
