No Manchester United offer for Pedro, insists Bartomeu

The 28-year-old is understood to be considering his options at Camp Nou.

MANCHESTER UNITED HAVE made no official bid for Pedro despite persistent speculation linking the Barcelona forward with a move to Old Trafford, according to club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

Pedro is understood to be frustrated with his lack of regular first-team opportunities at Camp Nou, while Louis van Gaal is reportedly in the market for another wide attacking option as Angel Di Maria edges closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

But amid conflicting reports in Spain about a £21 million buyout clause that United may be able to exploit to sign Pedro, Bartomeu is adamant that no approach has been made for the unsettled 28-year-old.

“The team is what it is,” the Barcelona president replied when the subject of Pedro’s future was raised. “It has been put together. We have the team that our coach wanted — it’s done and completed.

“We don’t foresee any departures from the team. I’ve read many things about a Pedro departure, but no one has officially addressed our club. Our squad is complete.”

Barcelona will be bolstered by summer signings Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal in January as they bid to build upon last season’s historic treble, and Bartomeu insists everyone at the club is relishing the challenge of competing for six trophies on offer this term.

“Last season we won three titles and we have an opportunity to make it six this year,” he added. “It has been a dream year. I wish that every year we would start the campaign thinking that we can win six titles.

“In order to do that you need a competitive team, a winning side, and with the reinforcements we have made, we have a team that can try to win it all.”
