Mayo's Pearce Hanley has signed another new Aussie Rules deal

New two-year extension will keep Hanley in Brisbane until 2019.

PEARCE HANLEY HAS signed a two-year extension with the Brisbane Lions, committing his future to the Aussie Rules outfit until 2019.

The 27-year-old Mayo man, who has been one of the great Irish success stories since moving to the AFL in 2007, was already under contract until 2017.

Brisbane announced on Monday that Hanley, the team’s vice-captain, agreed a further extension ahead of the new season.

“His freakish skills and devastating running game (are) set to light up the Gabba,” the club’s website wrote.

Team-mates Stefan Martin and Mitch Robinson also agreed new deals.

“It’s a strong show of faith in the Lions that these guys wanted to continue with this group and influence the direction our club is heading,” general manager Matt Francis said.
