Scholes blasts England after Ireland draw: That was a waste of an afternoon
The Three Lions played out a goalless draw in Dublin, leaving the 66-time international perplexed as to what Roy Hodgson could have learned about his side.
FORMER MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder Paul Scholes blasted England after their 0-0 draw with Republic of Ireland, labelling the encounter as “a waste of an afternoon”.
Roy Hodgson’s side struggled to create any chances of note at the Aviva Stadium while Martn O’Neill’s side forced Joe Hart into a couple of saves during what was otherwise a drab affair.

And Scholes bemoaned the lack of quality on show as the Three Lions prepared for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia.
“He’s [Jack Wilshere] probably the only one [who played well]. [Chris] Smalling did quite well I suppose,” he told ITV.
“Apart from that on either side, a real lack of quality. A waste of an afternoon really.”
Fellow ex-international Ian Wright was equally scathing as he questioned the scheduling given the Premier League season finished two weeks ago whlle offering his condolences to supporters who ha bought tickets.
“You just think abut the time of the year to play this kind of friendly, which I thought was going to be more passionate and more drive about it,” he said.
“The boys just looked tired and there was nothing. I felt sorry for the fans.”
