Meanwhile, former Shamrock Rovers and Ireland U21 striker Pádraig Amond has joined Grimsby.

AFTER BEING RELEASED by Hull City, Irish international Paul McShane looks set to sign for Reading.

BBC Humberside Sport have cited reports in Berkshire suggesting McShane has agreed terms with Reading and will undergo a medical today, while GetReading.co.uk are also reporting that McShane is on the verge of becoming the Royals’ third signing.

A picture of McShane, said to be taken outside the Madejski Hotel, has also been circulating on Twitter.

If the defender does sign, he would become the second Irish player to join Reading in recent days, with Stephen Quinn’s move to the club recently confirmed.

Meanwhile, in other Irish transfer news, Grimsby Town have signed former Shamrock Rovers and Ireland U21 striker Pádraig Amond on a one-year deal.
