Dunne, Lowry share 13th as Snedeker wins Farmers title without hitting another shot

Snedeker plays the waiting game before picking up $1.1 million winner’s cheque.

PAUL DUNNE AND Shane Lowry finished in a tie for 13th as the weather-hit Farmers Insurance Open finally reached its conclusion on Monday evening.

Dunne closed his PGA Tour debut on a high as he birdied the last to finish on level par for the tournament, six behind winner Brandt Snedeker who didn’t need to hit another shot as he waited patiently for the final groups to finish.

Snedeker was one of those to complete his final round amid high wind and rain on Sunday, and his 69 was the only sub-par score from the 71 players who made the weekend cut at Torrey Pines.

Then he spent Monday waiting patiently as the rest of the field tried — and failed — to reel him in.

KJ Choi came closest, taking outright second place on five-under-par following a closing round of 76, while Kevin Streelman was third on four-under.

Lowry carded back-to-back rounds of 73 over the weekend to finish alongside Dunne on level par.
