THERE WAS A “surreal” ending to yesterday’s county senior hurling final in Limerick – and runners-up Patrickswell aren’t happy.
The game ended in some controversy as the clock in the stadium did not show that the full 60 minutes had been played.
While handing over the trophy to Na Piarsaigh, county board chairman Oliver Mann, a Limerick man, admitted that the clock was wrong but insisted that it was not an issue.

In the press box, reporters stated that 31 minutes of the second half had been played – the regulation half an hour plus a minute of stoppage time.
But this wasn’t known on the pitch apparently and Patrickswell corner back Kelvin Lynch, brother of teen sensation Cian, voiced his frustration on Twitter:

Na Piarsaigh claimed the spoils to deny Patrickswell a first county senior hurling crown since 2003. The result is unlikely to be appealed.
