McEleney produces a beautiful chip as Galway fail to beat the drop

GALWAY UNITED WERE relegated to the SSE Airtricity League First Division tonight.

The Tribesmen needed a win at home to Dundalk tonight, coupled with a defeat for either Sligo Rovers or St Patrick’s Athletic.

However, after scoring the opener through Stephen Folan, Shane Keegan’s side lost 4-3.

On the stroke of half-time, Patrick McEleney lit up the game by producing a moment of brilliance.

The Derry native collected the ball on the edge of the box and delicately lifted it over the head of goalkeeper Conor Winn.
