Patrick Horgan joins Christy Ring and Ben O'Connor in Cork hurling scoring club

The Glen Rovers man made the step up last Sunday.

CORK MAY HAVE exited the Munster senior hurling championship on Sunday but Patrick Horgan did achieve some personal glory as he reached a notable milestone.

Horgan’s haul of 1-7 brought his senior hurling championship tally for Cork to 12 goals and 201 points.

That means Horgan became only the third Cork player to break the 200-point barrier, joining Christy Ring and Ben O’Connor in that club.

Horgan’s 61st minute point in the Semple Stadium clash was the 200th white flag that he has raised in championship hurling action.

The Glen Rovers man’s scoring return also sees him overtake Charlie McCarthy, who bagged 27-152 (235), in the overall Cork championship scoring records behind O’Connor in second place 6-231 (249) and Ring who still tops the charts with 33-205 (304).

If Cork can manage to plot a route through the backdoor, expect Horgan to overtake and move into second place before the summer is out.
