Pascal Papé's appeal for kneeing Heaslip was today - and it didn't go well for the Frenchman

Papé appealed punishment following France’s Six Nations defeat in Dublin last month.

FRANCE LOCK PASCAL Papé has failed in his bid to have his 10-week suspension reduced.

Papé was hit with a lengthy ban last month for striking Jamie Heaslip with his knee, an incident that left the Irish number eight with three fractured vertebrae.

Papé argued the punishment was “excessive and disproportionate” but an appeal hearing in London this afternoon dismissed the claim.

A statement confirmed:

The Appeal Committee, having considered submissions on behalf of the player and on behalf of the Six Nations Disciplinary Officer, dismissed the appeal with the result that the original sanction of a ten-week suspension stands, with Pascal Pape able to return to play on 18 May 2015.
