Harrington will undergo surgery on his troublesome neck injury.

Harrington faces 10 weeks out after neck surgery

But he’s hoping to be back and fully fit in time for a busy summer schedule.

PÁDRAIG HARRINGTON WILL miss a large chunk of the season as he prepares to undergo surgery on a trapped nerve in his neck.

The procedure is likely to keep the three-time Major winner out of action for the next 10 weeks.

Harrington has been troubled by the injury since the end of last year and has now decided the problem requires an operation after a period of rest failed to rectify it.

The Dubliner last featured at the Honda Classic in Florida last month and has targeted the Memorial Tournament in the first week of June as his potential return date.

It’s no secret that Harrington is desperate to be fit for the Irish Open and then the Open, both of which take place in July this summer. The Open takes place between 16-23 July at Royal Birkdale, the scene of Harrington’s triumph in 2008.
