This smashing goal from a former Celtic player needs to be watched again and again

McCourt’s effort couldn’t protect his Finn Harps side from suffering defeat at the hands of Sligo Rovers.

SLIGO ROVERS SNATCHED a late victory against Finn Harps in the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division on Saturday, but a goal from the boot of Paddy McCourt was a special moment in the tie.

While trailing the tie 1-0 late into the second half, McCourt gathered possession from way outside the Rovers’ box, and made a charge for the goal.

He produced some stunning footwork to dance through the defence, and bypass six players before toe-poking the ball into the net.

It was a superb effort to cancel out Vinny Faherty’s first half opener, but Rhys McCabe emerged with the winner in the 91st minute to secure the spoils for Rovers.

McCourt left League Two side Luton Town last year a year ahead of schedule. The former Celtic player later signed for Finn Harps in February of this year.
