Seventh time lucky? Oulart-the-Ballagh earn another shot at Leinster hurling glory

Clonkill finished with 14 men as Wexford champions set up Cuala clash.

Oulart-the-Ballagh (Wexford) 0-16

Clonkill (Westmeath) 0-8

SIX TIMES THE bridesmaids but not yet the bride, Oulart-the-Ballagh have earned another chance to end their Leinster hurling hoodoo.

The Wexford champions beat Clonkill of Westmeath by eight points today to set up a provincial decider against Cuala on 29 November.

Oulart — who have been beaten in four of the last five Leinster finals — took full advantage of the Mullingar wind and led by 0-11 to 0-3 at half-time.

David Redmond, Rory Jacob and Des Mythen scored early points as the visitors took a0-3 to 0-2 lead before holding Clonkill scoreless for 25 minutes.

The closest that Clonkill came to a revival was when Anthony Price reeled off three unanswered scores but that was only good enough to cut the gap to six.

Corner-back Shane Power was shown a straight red late on to complete a miserable day for Clonkill.
