One Direction star could be set to play Jamie Vardy in Hollywood movie*

*No, really.

THE REMARKABLE RISE of Jamie Vardy from non-league footballer to Premier League star could be turned into a Hollywood film, according to reports.

One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson is being lined up to play Vardy, who is the Premier League’s current top scorer with 16 goals.

The writer of the 2007 film Goal, Adrian Butchart, is the man behind the idea, with the Hollywood scriptwriter understood to be flying to England next week.

Butchart is reportedly hoping to meet up with England manager Roy Hodgson and ex-Leicester boss Nigel Pearson, who signed Vardy from Fleetwood Town for £1 million back in 2012.

It was also Butchart’s idea to have Tomlinson play the starring role, with the pop singer being an avid football fan and Doncaster Rovers supporter.

“’We are looking at a few actors. Zac Effron and Robert Pattinson are two favorites, however One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson is also very much on our radar — he’s apparently a great footballer, he can act and he’s from South Yorkshire so the accent won’t be a problem for him,” Butchart told the Daily Mail.

“In fact we hear he’s a Jamie Vardy fan — he even tweeted Jamie when he broke the goalscoring record in November.”

Oscar-winning editor Richard Halsey is also hoping to be involved, while studios including Warner Brothers, Disney and Universal have expressed an interest in the project.
